Irene Carré´s work investigates the emotive impact of a removed momentary connection with the other.
Her Indian ink portraits are drawn from the artists recollection of expressions caught from the faces of strangers in public spaces. An anonymity in their mask like appearance contrasts with the evocative charge of their expression.
Exhibiting her series of monochrome drawings in found antique frames the works allude to an impersonal nostalgia and foreign intimacy such as is felt when looking at collections of found photographs.
Irene Carré was born in Brittany, France in 1972 and lives and works in Paris.
